 PARA-PARA
Parapara was born in the late 70´s and early 80´s in Harajuku, Japan. This kind of dance has been very popular between kogals, and also it has suffered lot of downs and booms. Singers as Namie Amuro and Ayumi Hamasaki began making Eurobeat remixes of her songs and introducing parapara dancing.
The first thing to learn about Parapara is the stepping, basically when you step you always go to the right, you slide your right foot to the right, and then your left to your right, then you repeat at the other side. Another thing is to put emotion in parapara, this was created for having fun and be free!
  Gwen Stefani has launched her own fashion clothing line called Harajuku Lovers, which is inspired by Japan´s Harajuku District. She also made a collection named L.A.M.B. (Love, Angel, Music, Baby), which are the names of her Harajuku Girls. Gwen Stefani described her latest endeavor as a mix of Mexican ganster, Rasta, and old-fashioned Hollywood doing it work toghether. Here you can find some of her clothes.   June 05 Japanese Fashion KOGALS: This trend started in 1993 as a teen version of Juliana gals and inspiration of secondary students in L.A.They´re also known as kou-gyaru. The word has its roots in kou meaning "high" as in high school, and gyaru for "gal".Generally this girls use to wear a schoolgirl uniform, loose socks, plataform shoes and the celular phone. They dye their hair in tones like light brown or orange. They often go to tanning salons, there are many different styles of kogals based on the skin colour and type of make-up. Their hobbies are the called "parapara" dance and shopping, they´re ultra-consumist and Shibuya is the best place for them, they were Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Alba Rosa clothing at the most.
GANJIRO: Litterally, it means "white face", these girls dont have much money to go to tanning salons and they´re more influenced by the estetic of Ayumi Hamasaki.
GANGURO: This is the opposite of ganjiro. They want to have the most possible taned skin and dye their hair with light tones, they also wear light or pastel make up to make contrast with their faces and it seems the ultrabronced californian style.
YAMAMBA: This is the most extremely provocative kind of kogal, they also have tanned skin, bleached hair, and white make-up that seems like a panda bear. GONGURO: They look the same as Ganguro but their skin is even more tanned, sometimes they get an Afroamerican look.
